Motion Sensor Security Camera
A motion sensor security camera provides many benefits over a standard security camera and as such, they are becoming the most popular type of security camera available on the market. Let us take a look at what makes these cameras so awesome.
Motion Sensor Security Camera Benefits
Video Recording Only When Triggered: A standard security camera will only be able to record continuously or not at all, where as a motion sensor camera can be set to record only when movement is detected. This means the system will only ever record actual events and not hours of endless quiet periods where nothing happens, thus freeing up your recorder’s disk space or video tape.
Setting Up Alerts: Most motion sensor camera systems have the ability to alert the owner in the event of a camera detecting movement. For example, say you are on vacation and have a camera monitoring your front door. If the camera detects movement you could be sent an alert by email or text allowing you to view the events live or from a recording via the Internet.
Set-up Up a Watch Zone: Many motion sensor security cameras have the ability to set a watch zone, which means only a partial area of a camera’s range can be set to trigger recording and/or alerts. For example, you can set a camera to only trigger recording when movement is detected at a specific door or window and not the surrounding area. This avoids recording video in areas you don’t want to monitor.
Set-up Multiple Cameras: Depending on the security camera system purchased, you can have 2, 4, 8, 12, or more cameras set-up on a single system all recording simultaneously and all viewable at any time.
Wireless or Wired: Your system can be wired or wireless, with wireless security cameras having the obvious advantage of being hassle free to set-up as they can be placed just about anywhere.
Additional features of a quality motion sensor security camera will include sound and low light or night vision. Some cameras can be installed directly on computer networks (IP cameras) and some come with complete digital video recording (DVR) units and monitors.
